STEPHEN HARRIGE

Founder and Director of the Centre for Human and Applied Physiological Sciences at King’s College London.

Stephen Harridge is Professor of Human and Applied Physiology in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London, where he directs the Centre for Human and Applied Physiological Sciences. He is also co-director of Ageing Research at King’s and co-directs the Lifestyles and Resilience to Ageing theme within the Centre for Resilience to Ageing in a Changing Environment.

His research is multidisciplinary and uses approaches from molecular and cellular physiology to whole-body physiology with the aim of improving understanding of the physiological processes of human ageing, especially as they relate to skeletal muscle. One of its main goals is to determine the role of exercise in the development of optimal ageing phenotypes.
