Ana María Cuervo is a molecular biologist and currently holds the Robert and Renee Belfer Chair for the study of neurodegenerative diseases at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she is also co-director of the Center for Aging Studies.

In late 2001, she set up her own research group at Einstein, whose goal is to develop therapies that can repair cellular clearance to prevent or delay the course of diseases of ageing.

The work of his group has been recognised with more than 20 internationally prestigious awards such as the P. Benson Award in Cell Biology, The Keith Porter Lecture and the Nathan Shock Memorial Lecture Award, among others. And since 2018 her name has been on the list of the most cited researchers in science.
