First Professor of Immunology in the Valencian Community, he chairs the Valencian Society of Immunology (SVI).
José Miguel Sempere Ortells, a graduate in Medicine from the University of Alicante and PhD from the same university, has practised clinical medicine in different outpatient clinics, health centres, emergency services and hospitals. He is the first professor of Immunology in the Valencian Community and currently chairs the Valencian Society of Immunology (SVI) and is a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Valencian Community.
He was scientific director (R&D&I) of the ASAC Pharmaceutical International A.I.E. Group of Companies, where he set up and coordinated several clinical trials with phytopharmaceuticals for the treatment of various neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases related to ageing, developed the standardisation of new allergenic extracts and hyposensitising vaccines, and led the development of one-step diagnostics.
His current research is related to cancer immunotherapy, immune system ageing, reproductive immunology and the search for diagnostic, prognostic and/or therapeutic response biomarkers in cancer and autoimmune diseases.
In addition, he has numerous scientific publications to his credit, including books, book chapters and high impact journals.
